Therapy...turns out it’s not so scary!

You may be asking yourself, do I really need therapy?  I get it! It’s hard to make that decision. There are costs involved, time, and the ole “whatever will I talk about?” question. The short answer is yes.

I believe much like finding a good dentist, everyone is in need of a therapist. If you have found yourself anxious, depressed, looking for answers, have a mom, have a dad, have been in a relationship, then you can benefit from therapy.

What you can expect from therapy

  • To have self compassion rather than crippling shame that constantly tells you you’re not enough.

  • To feel the spectrum of emotions rather than numb out.

  • To create balance so you don’t feel so crazy all the time.

  • To learn healthy self talk that leads to change in you and your relationships.

  • To seek out emotionally safe relationships.

  • To talk to your partner in a way that fosters intimacy and wholeness.

Hi, I’m Rebecca!

I didn’t grow up in a home where therapy was the norm (it was for “those” people out there). Then, going  through a few life things (uh, big things actually) and seeing the benefits of therapy in my own life gave me the nudge that this thing could actually help others. And so my road to therapist began.

So, what did I learn from therapy? I learned that I could trust myself. That what my gut was telling me was accurate. And from there, I learned what a healthy relationship is supposed to look like. I also learned how to change destructive patterns that were in my own family of origin in order to be the best parent, friend, sister, and daughter I could be.

There are not many areas of suffering that have not touched my own story. And, because of this, I bring a unique expertise in how we tick in the midst of crisis and hardship. I have yet to meet a client I didn’t like. Because once you understand where someone has been, it opens you up to understand and have compassion for where they are today.

The official stuff

  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (this means I see clients through the lens of the family they were raised in).

  • Trained in EMDR, Internal Family Systems (which is a fancy name for a modality that gets to know and cozies up to the different voices we have in our heads throughout the day), brainspotting, and attachment.

  • I also have been learning and training in the Enneagram since 2004 and use it all the time in my practice. I have found it to be an incredible tool in the therapy office to go deeper into the self discovery journey!

Therapists are humans too!

I like sweets WAY more than I should, love to laugh-mostly at myself (and if you’re not laughing, you’re probably crying), can totally nerd out and consume smart, indie music whilst also lip-syncing Drake lyrics (we all need balance!), dances like no one’s watching...but sort of hoping you are…Enneagram Social 9 with an 8 wing, ENFP.
